納屋橋は堀川に架かる広小路通の橋であり、慶長１５年(1610)名古屋城の築城の折り堀川が開削された時に架けられ、附近の地名をとってこの名が付けられたと伝えられている。
その後、幾度か架け替えられ、大正２年(1913)鋼製のアーチ橋に改築され、名古屋の名橋として広く市民に親しまれてきた。その欄干の中央には堀川開削の総奉行福島正則の紋所があり両脇には郷土三英傑、織田信長、豊臣秀吉、徳川家康の紋所が飾られている。
改築にあたり欄干を再び使用して長くこの橋の面影をしのぶこととした。

Nayabashi Bridge
The Nayabashi bridge spans the Hori Kawa Canal whitch runs alongside Hirokoji street.
The bridge was built when the Hori Kawa Canal was excavated in 1610, along with the construction of Nagoya Castle.
It is said that the bridge was given the old name of the nearby area.
The bridge was changed several times the reafter, and It was rebuilt as a steel arched bridge in 1913.
It has been very popular among the people of Nagoya as one of the finest bridges in the city. The crest of Masanori Fukushima director general of the Hori Kawa Canalexvation project, can be seen in the middle of the parapet, and on both sides of it there are the crests of the three great heroes of the Nagoya area - Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Iyeyasu Tokugawa.
When we built old parapet again to remind us of the original bridge.
